About
Gavin Chilcott says his work is "all light and inconsequential". However, this drawing has a message. It expresses Chilcott's environmental concerns, in particular the destruction of New Zealand's native forests. It is a plea for public recognition of the need for preservation of our public resources.
This work is not intended as a preliminary drawing for a sculpture, in spite of its title. It is an imaginary proposal, an expression on paper of a monumental theme.
