Los Angeles-based New Zealand artist Fiona Connor talks in her newly opened exhibition Object Classrooms.
The Object Classrooms exhibition, which tracks the movement and disappearance of an artwork, takes its name from the practice of setting up 'object study classrooms' where works are temporarily installed for examination and discussion.
Object Classrooms is accompanied by the exhibition Abstractions: Works from the Govett-Brewster Collection in Galleries 2, 3 and 4 (Sat 10 Mar - Sun 29 Apr) which focuses on the history and influence of geometric abstraction (particularly from the West Coast of the United States) on artists in New Zealand. The two connect giving our audience the chance to see a broad range of formal, abstract works from the 1970s to today.
