Govett-Brewster Babes: Get your art and culture fix!
22 March2007

Mums, dads and caregivers are invited to get their art and culture fix with the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery’s new programme Govett-Brewster Babes.

Adults are encouraged to bring their little ones and join Gallery staff for a baby-friendly tour of the current exhibition Tom Kreisler at 10.30am on Friday 30 March.

The half hour gallery tour will involve discussion around the works in the exhibition and provide background information about the artist. The tour will be followed by morning tea at Cafe Govett-Brewster.

The latest addition to the New Plymouth Gallery’s comprehensive public education programme, Gallery Director Rhana Devenport says the Gallery is always looking for new ways to connect with different sectors of the community.

“Accessibility is extremely important for us and while the Gallery is already family- friendly we recognise that adults with babies and toddlers in their care have specific needs.”

For Govett-Brewster Babes there will be a play area and toys on hand to help keep the little ones entertained while the adults listen to the talk. The Gallery also has baby changing facilities and is fully accessible for buggies and prams.

“With Govett-Brewster Babes we aim to create an environment where parents and caregivers can enjoy a relaxing visit to the Gallery and learn a little more about the works on show, “ Devenport says.
