The Govett-Brewster Art Gallery is to enter into a visionary sponsorship agreement with designer paint company Aalto Colour, the Gallery announced today.

Speaking at the Gallery’s popular Monica Brewster Club event this evening, Director Greg Burke announced the support, which will see the Gallery’s interior painted in the latest contemporary colours up to five times a year. In return, the profile of Aalto Colour will be dramatically enhanced in the Taranaki region.

“We are delighted to be the recipient of this support”, said Gallery Director Burke. “This sponsorship further confirms our national and international profile as a leading museum of contemporary art”.

 “The Gallery is generally repainted five times a year, after each exhibition change. That equates to a lot of paint. This is a great opportunity for the Gallery to showcase the latest in contemporary colours, on a regularly changing basis, and to have visitors to the Gallery experience those colours in new and exciting ways”, said Mr Burke.

“Aalto looks forward to a long and happy partnership. We are delighted that the Govett-Brewster has given Aalto the opportunity to be proud to be in the background.” Said Aalto Colour Director Prue Cook.

In addition to being in the background of all Govett-Brewster exhibitions over the coming year, Aalto Colour paint will be strongly featured in a number of specific exhibitions. The first of these, abnormal mass delusions, looks at a group of New Zealand’s most elusive artists. The exhibition will heavily feature a custom Aalto Colour created specifically for the artist, called Budd viaduct.

The partnership will be officially announced at this month’s Monica Brewster Club event, addressed by award winning Auckland architect Noel Lane, who has used Aalto Colour extensively in his $50million redevelopment of the Auckland Museum.
