The Govett-Brewster Art Gallery's ability to provide a leading programme of contemporary art owes much to the visionary support of the New Plymouth District Council.
The Monica Brewster Trust Deed established a close relationship between the Council and the Gallery. That relationship remains intact, and in addition to providing core operational funding for the Gallery the Council has been the Gallery's principal stakeholder and strategic partner since its opening in 1970.
The Council is also represented on the Len Lye Foundation.
