The Govett-Brewster Art Gallery is New Zealand's premier contemporary art museum. Since opening in 1970, the Govett-Brewster has been at the forefront of contemporary art in New Zealand with groundbreaking exhibitions and a commitment to showing art from the Pacific Rim. The Gallery was founded by the farsighted bequest of one of its greatest 'Friends' Monica Brewster.
The Friends of the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery have been actively involved with the Gallery's programme since 1971. As well as playing a vital role in supporting the activities of the Gallery, the Friends extend the relationship between the Gallery and the community.
As a Friend you will have the opportunity to be involved with the Gallery and to play an important role in its future success. Joining the Friends through an annual subscription or lifetime membership entitles you to numerous privileges and access to exclusive functions.
The Friends enjoy greater involvement with the Govett-Brewster arts community and receive advance information about upcoming exhibitions and events. Friends also receive invitations to all exhibition openings and the opportunity to regularly meet artists, curators and other art lovers.
